Residential Care

Our residential living facility is the only residential Finnish aged care service in the country, making it the aged care village of choice for many members of Australia’s Finnish and Scandinavian communities.

At Finlandia Village, our team members will provide you with the care you need while our facilities will provide you with the comfort you expect. We provide both permanent and centre-based day care accommodation for our short and long term residents.

Our team members foster a community atmosphere and encourage family and friends to stop by regularly. They work hard to make the village a friendly and happy environment, where each person may feel at home and preserve their independence and dignity.

Finlandia Village commenced operations in 1983, following an eight-year fundraising campaign by the Finnish Community of Australia.

Today, AFRHA is taking its first steps towards building a master planned community on its Thornlands site.

New concepts in the full range of living choices for older people are being planned to ensure we are able to provide a continuum of care and a full range of services for our residents.

“I have lived at Finlandia Village for 20 years.  I love the way the place is open and spacious, lots of gardens around.  I have my own room with a bathroom to myself.  Everyone is friendly and I get on with everyone even though I don’t speak Finnish.   I especially enjoy the food here; you’d have to go a long way to find anything so good. This is a home away from home.” - Merle
