Looking for answers to your questions? Then there is a good chance you’ll find it below. We’ve worked with our team members and our residents to compile a comprehensive list of the most frequently asked questions about Finlandia Village.
If you still have a question please feel free to contact us at info@afrha.com.au and one of our team members will personally answer your enquiry.
Q) How do I apply to get on the waiting list?
A) We need three documents from you: A copy of your Aged Care Assessment, an application form filled in and a copy of your Centrelink Assets Assessment.
We can send you application forms and forms for the Centrelink Assessment. You need to contact the Aged Care Assessment Team office (located normally at your nearest hospital) and arrange them to come and do the assessment.
Q) How long is the waiting list?
A) Unfortunately we cannot predict how long you have to be on the waiting list. This can depend on our rate of vacancies occurring, care need assessments, the location of the rooms being vacant etc.
Q) How much is the bond and who has to pay it?
A) We have an uncapped bond structure based on the Centrelink Asset Statement. Potential residents should discuss their individual financial situation with administration staff to determine when a Bond is payable and how much it might be.
Q) Do I have to share a room?
A) No, all our rooms are single rooms and most have their own bathrooms.
Q) Can I bring my own furniture?
A) The rooms have a bed, an armchair, bedside table, a chest of drawers and inbuilt cupboards.
Residents are welcome to bring other minor furniture items. Individual needs should be discussed with management prior to entry. Residents can bring wall hangings, pictures and soft furnishings to make the room homely.
Q) What activities do you offer for residents?
A) Our Therapy team organizes a monthly calendar of activities for the residents. These include bingo, outdoor games, craft, movies, shopping trips, and concerts by visiting performers etc. Both Lutheran and Pentecostal churches have services regularly.
Our physical therapy team runs a gym and exercise program tailored to each residents’ needs.
Q) Do you offer respite services?
A) Yes, we have one high care respite room available for short-term stay. Please phone the office to make a booking. Low care respite may be available on occasions - please speak with administration staff if required.
