Q) How do I know if I am eligible for home care?

A) All prospective Finncare clients must undergo a full health and medical assessment by our qualified health professionals.

Q) How do I apply?

A) Give one of our coordinators a call on 07 3829 4845, or get your local doctor/hospital/social worker to send us a referral. One of our coordinators will then visit you in your home and assess your needs.

Q) How much does it cost?

A) Finncare clients contribute $5 for every hour, $2.50 for every 30 mins and $1 for every additional quarter of an hour of service they receive from our carers. Weekly assistance from our team is capped at five hours ($25).

Centre based assistance is charged as $12 per day. Extras such as morning coffees and group transport are charged at a small additional costs usually around two to three dollars.

Q) Can I still be a Finncare client if I am not Finnish?

A) Yes, of course! Finncare is a diverse community care provider to people from all cultural backgrounds. Our Finnish heritage and our Finnish-speaking staff members provide a unique benefit for our Scandinavian clients, but all ageing Australians may be eligible to receive assistance from Finncare.

Q) I don’t have a car. How can I get to the day care centre in Thornlands?

A) Easily. Depending on your location within the Brisbane metropolitan area to the day care centre, our bus driver can pick you up from your home at small charge between three and five dollars.

Q) Can I receive services on weekends or public holidays?

A) Unfortunately, the HACC program does not provide funding to Finncare for services on weekends and public holidays. However, our staff members work hard to accommodate your needs during the working week.
